How do I start off about "The Departed"? Martin Scorsese (director) is one of the greatest directors ever. This is one of his best, it won 4 Oscars for, best writing/best adapted screenplay, best achievement in film editing, best achievement in directing, and best motion picture of the year. Also Mark Wahlberg (Dignam) was nominated for the Oscar, best actor in the supporting role. Not to mention all of the great actors like, Leonardo DiCaprio (Billy), Jack Nicholson (Frank Costello), Matt Damon (Colin Sullivan), and as you already know, Mark Wahlberg (Dignam). Also add Martin Scorsese directing this amazing actors, and William Monahan (writer) who also wrote "Body of Lies" writing the screenplay for this movie. Also Scott Mantz (film critic) quotes " Martin Scorsese's best film since Goodfellas". Also to make this movie even more crazy, "The Departed" is produced by Brad Pitt (actor/producer). So all of that into one amazing film, "The Departed".
